Ok, be honest…

How many of us on a weekend have told themselves,

“Yes this month I’m going to prep my meals. Nothing is going to stop me!”

Then rolls around the weekdays and you’ve had a bad day and certainly don’t have time for prepping your meals. Leading to you missing one day and spiralling out of control.

It’s a vicious cycle that I’ve found myself in many times. In this article I’m going to tell you how to manage your meal prep realistically, making it easier to stick to.

1. Find out what you actually like.

Let’s face it, the reason most of us fail is because we force ourselves to eat bland, boring foods we don’t like. If you’re miserable every time you eat of course you’re going to slip into your old habits.

Make healthy choices from the meals you already like. A great example is Spaghetti Bolognaise. By changing from beef mince to pork or Quorn you massively reduced the fat content of the meal. If you want an extra boost try exchanging the white rice for brown (or vegetables for a super healthy meal!).

2. Eat more porridge.

Porridge is a massively underrated food, mostly because you can do anything with it, you need to find a recipe that works for you. Oats are slow releasing which means you feel satisfied for longer.

There are so many ways you can use porridge so experiment and find a recipe that works for you. Overnight oats are ideal because you can take them straight out of the fridge from the preparation the night before.

3. Make a visual reminder.

Invest in a whiteboard! They’re fantastic and I’ll tell you why. Each morning you’re going to be tired and groggy however having a whiteboard to remind you what the order is for today will help you stick on track for longer. It has helped my household massively and even saved us a few pennies too.
