Seeming as though we spend around 70% of our lives in work, it is vital that you don’t use that as an excuse to have poor eating habits or skip a workout. Therefore:

Tip No.1: Exercise at work

If there are any stairs in your office, choose to take them rather than the lift. If you are close by your workplace, why not try walking or cycling to work. You could also go for a walk at lunch.

Tip No.2: Prepare your snacks for the day ahead

Grabbing a quick and ‘convenient’ snack from the local shop or vending machine can result in an extra 300 calories that you don’t need.

Tip No.3: Drink lots of water

A lot of the time people think they’re hungry, when in fact they’re thirsty, so whenever you feel the need for a snack, try drinking a large glass of water and wait a couple of minutes. Drinking water regularly has some fantastic health benefits.

Tip No.4: Find a healthy co-worker

It can be difficult and awkward to turn down treats from colleagues, so try find a co-worker who also wants to be healthy and buddy up with them so you’re not alone.

Tip No.5: Understand your eating habits

Some people eat depending on their emotional state, and a bad day at work or a tough meeting can be a trigger. It’s worth identifying what may be causing emotional eating and taking the appropriate steps to avoid doing so. Finding alternatives could help to combat this, such as practicing mindful eating or getting help with any emotional issues.

Tip No.6: Prepare your meals

This doesn’t mean you have to spend your whole Sunday preparing your meals for the week ahead. Simply make double of the dinner you are making each night, and use their extra for your lunch the next day. That way you know exactly what is going into your meal. With ready- made meals, it isn’t unusual for the meal to be packed full of sugar and salt, making what seems a ‘healthy’ meal extremely unhealthy. Don’t be fooled by clever branding/marketing – check the nutritional information. Alternatively, use a meal – prep service like our food partners Soul Mate Foods.

All of these tips apply outside of work too so use them in your everyday routine. To achieve your goals, you must believe – have an idea or a vision of where you want to be. Work towards your goals. We are here to help!
